Paradox built a large following in the thriving Toronto nightclub scene in the 1980s. Originally named Billy Butt and the Brats, it was on its way to making the big time. They performed original music at venues around the city and throughout Ontario. They played many clubs in the greater Toronto area including the El Mocambo, Rondun, Larry's Hideaway, Queensbury Arms, Knob Hill, Mississauga Belle, Tony's East, the Kee to Bala, University of Western Ontario, and the Coronet in Kitchener.
